Floating

I’ve been using float tanks for many years as a way to reach deeper states of meditation. In the quiet darkness, I often see a white dove slowly flying toward me, growing larger until it transforms into a swirling Sufi, spiraling in front of me as I spin with it further into the present moment.

However, for the last eight months, I have been applying a specific intention: to reduce neuroinflammation caused by Mast Cell Disease and the negative feedback loops it creates.

Being diagnosed with Mast Cell Disease has been bittersweet. It’s answered a lot of questions but also brought the reality that what I’m dealing with isn’t easily controlled. For instance, my sensory system was in a constant state of overload, making it difficult to function let alone meditate.

During the last several years, I’ve also been actively studying and applying neurophysiology to my work and life. So I’ve been intentionally using my weekly floats as part of a protocol to help reset my sensory system.

Today, after months of floating with my intention, I was pleasantly surprised to once again see my doves and swirling Sufis dancing around me.

Cheers to breakthroughs in the darkness! 🧘🏻‍♀️
